Dark Chocolate Florentines

Ingredients

1/3 cup  unsalted butter 1/4 cup  canola oil 2 cups  quick-cooking oats 3/4 cup  sugar 1/3 cup  whole-wheat flour 1/4 cup  low-fat milk or low-fat plain soymilk 1 teaspoon   vanilla extract 1/4 teaspoon  salt 1/2 cup  toasted almonds or walnuts (see Tip), finely chopped 1/2 cup  semisweet or dark chocolate chips 1/2 cup  apricot preserves Tip: : Spread nuts on a baking sheet and bake at 350°F, stirring once, until fragrant, 7 to 9 minutes.
