- 1 cup diced red onions
- 1 can crushed tomatoes
- 1 can diced plum tomatoes with their liquid
- 1/4 cup coarsely chopped fresh basil
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley
- 2 teaspoons dried Italian seasoning
- 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt and freshly ground black pepper
Pasta
- 1 pound high-fibre spaghetti (see tip)
