Ingredients
- For Carolina Style mustard Based Sauce
- 3 cups whole grain mustard
- 2 cups spicy brown, Dijon or prepared mustard(your choice)
- 1 stick butter
- 2 large onions, grated
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup cider vinegar
- 1 cup white wine vinegar
- 1 cup cup honey
- 1cup brown sugar
- 1T dry mustard
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1T worcestershire sauce
- 1T liquid smoke
- 1-3t cayenne pepper
- juice from 3 lemons
- 1 shot whiskey(JD is my preference...you don't need to use the top shelf stuff! :)
- For KC Style tomato Based Sauce
- 6 cups tomato sauce
- 1/2 stick butter
- 2 large onions, grated
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1/2 cup Dijon mustard
- 1 cup honey
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 3/4 cup molasses
- 1 cup red wine vinegar(I like to use the one with garlic)
- 1 1/2T liquid smoke
- 1T worcestershire sauce
- 1T paprika(I use smoked)
- 1T cayenne(less, if desired)
- 1T chili powder
- 2t red pepper flakes(optional)
- 1 shot whiskey, as above
- kosher or sea salt and fresh ground black pepper
