- 2 teaspoons kosher salt plus more to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper
- 2 cups tomato sauce (about one 15-ounce can)
- 3/4 cup raisins
- 1/2 cup green pimento-stuffed Spanish olives, quartered
- 1/3 cup slivered almonds, toasted
- Cornbread
- 1 1/2 cups stone-ground cornmeal
- 3 tablespoons unbleached all-purpose flour
- 2 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons sugar
- 3/8 teaspoon fine salt
- 2 large eggs
- 3/4 cup whole milk, at room temperature
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
