  • 1 1/2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 carrot, peeled, sliced into 1/4 inch slices
  • 2 potato, diced into 1/4-inch cubes
  • 1 yam, peeled, diced into 1/4-inch cubes
  • 6 spears asparagus, sliced into 1/4 inch pieces
  • 10 peeled cloves garlic
  • 2 large shallot, quartered
  • 2 tablespoons fresh herbs, (such as thyme, rosemary, or sage), stemmed, minced
  • salt and pepper, to taste
