- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon bottled hot pepper sauce
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 12 ounce can beer or nonalcoholic beer
- 3/4 cup cashews
- 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack, mozzarella, or cheddar cheese (4 ounces)
