3 cups water
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons vegetable oil or olive oil
1 large onion, chopped (1 cup)
1 clove of garlic, minced
1 pound ground beef
2 cans (about 1 pound each) baked pea or kidney beans
1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
2 teaspoons chili powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 can (about 1 pound) tamales, drained and cut in half
