No Cooking Dill Pickles
8 or 10 Dill Sprigs, about a foot long, with flower heads
6 Medium Cloves Garlic
6 or 8 Large fresh Grape Leaves, if available (they make the pickles stay crisp)
One half Pod Fresh Jalapeno Pepper OR 1 Long Green Chili OR 2 Tsp. Hot Pepper Sauce
6 Tbs. Salt (or 5 Tbs. Salt Substitute made of potassium chloride etc., for lowsodium diet, if approved by your physician)
4 Tbs. repared Horseradish (OR, better, the equivalent of fresh horseradish root cut into thin strips)
3 Pints (approximate) White Vinegar
2 Pints (approximate) Water
4 Bay Leaves (OR 2 Calif. Bay, split in half)
