Orange Cake With Apricot Glaze

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups sifted all-purpose flour

  • Grated zest from 3 large oranges
  • 1 cup plus 1 1/2 Tbs. fresh orange juice (from 2 ;to 3 oranges)
  • 6 extra-large eggs, separated, plus 2 egg ;yolks, at room temperature
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup apricot preserves
  • 1 1/2 Tbs. fresh lemon juice
  • 3 Tbs. lightly toasted chopped pecans
