Ingredients

  • 1 pound  veal leg round steak or veal sirloin steak (about 1 pound)
  • 3 cups  fresh mushrooms (such as crimini, porcini, baby portobello, or button), quartered, halved, or sliced
  • 4 teaspoons  olive oil or cooking oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon  salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon  black pepper
  • 3/4 cup  dry Marsala
  • 1/2 cup  sliced green onions (4)
  • 1 tablespoon  snipped fresh sage or 1/2 teaspoon dried sage, crushed
  • 1 tablespoon  cold water
  • 1 teaspoon  cornstarch
  • 1/8 teaspoon  salt
  •   Hot cooked noodles (optional)
  •   Fresh herb sprigs (optional)
