  3. 3 large eggs, plus 3 large egg yolks, at room temperature
  4. 1/2 cup sugar
  5. 1/4 cup cake flour
  6. 1/2 cup heavy cream
  7. 1/2 vanilla bean, split and seeds scraped
  8. 2 tablespoons light brown sugar
  9. 1/2 teaspoon finely grated lemon zest
  10. 1 cup mascarpone (8 ounces)
  11. 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  12. About 1/2 cup brandied cherries or kirsch-soaked sour cherries
