  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

  • 1 (15-oonce) can white hominy, rinsed and drained
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped country or serrano ham (optional)
  • 1/2 cup diced (1/4 inch) onion
  • 1/2 cup diced (1/4 inch) green bell pepper
  • 1/2 cup diced (1/4 inch) red bell pepper
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 1/8 teaspoon dried hot red pepper flakes
  • 1 Turkish or 1/2 California bay leaf
  • 2 tablespoons cider vinegar
  • 1 cup
