Grilled Lamb Kabobs (Schaschlik)

Ingredients

2 medium green bell peppers, cut into 1-inch pieces
1 1/2 pounds boneless lamb leg, trimmed and cut into 1-inch cubes
1 medium onion, cut into 1-inch pieces
4 slices bacon, each cut into 4 pieces
1/2 cup olive oil
1 small onion, chopped
3 tablespoons lemon juice (juice of 1 large lemon)
2 tablespoons cognac
1 teaspoon catsup
1 clove garlic
2 teaspoons dijon mustard
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 pinch ground cayenne pepper
Vegetable oil for brushing the kabobs
