2 cups white sugar
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
4 eggs
1/2 cup canola oil
2 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup cold water
1/2 cup brandy or dark rum
1/2 cup chopped walnut
1/2 cup chopped glazed cherries
For the glaze:
1½ stick butter
¼ cups water
1½ cup sugar
¾cup brandy/rum
