Fall Fruit Strudel

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup cold butter, cut up
  • 1 3 ounce package cream cheese, chilled and cut into 1/2-inch pieces
  • 3 - 4 tablespoons cold water
  • 1/2 cup golden raisins
  • 1/2 cup dried tart cherries
  • 1/4 cup snipped dried apricots
  • 3 tablespoons dark rum, cream sherry, or apple juice
  • 1 large firm ripe pear, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
  • 3 gingersnaps, coarsely crushed
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 recipe Eggnog Custard Sauce or vanilla ice cream (see recipe below)
