Apple Buttery Pie with Praline Topping

Ingredients

  • Crusts:
  • 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons salt
  • 2/3 cup solid shortening, frozen then cut into 1/2 inch pieces
  • 1/2 cup chilled butter, cut into 1/2 inch pieces
  • 6 tablespoons ice water
  • 2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar
  • Filling:
  • 7 cups tart apples: cored, peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup apple butter
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 tablespoons all purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter
  • Praline Topping:
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoon light cream
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans
