Ingredients

    2 large onion, chopped
    2 large carrots, chopped
    1/2 teaspoon crumbled dried thyme
    1/2 teaspoon crumbled dried marjoram
    3 cups defatted low-sodium chicken or
    vetetable broth
    1 cup lentils
    salt to taste (optional)
    1/4 cup fresh parsley
    1 16 ounce can diced tomatoes
    1/4 cup dry sherry (not cooking sherry)
    11/2 cups shredded nonfat Swiss cheese
