Over-under Chili

Ingredients

    1 T olive oil
    1 lb Laura's lean ground beef (92% lean)
    1-1/2 c chopped onion
    3 cloves minced garlic
    1/2 c diced green pepper (opt.)
    1 lg jalapeno, finely diced
    4 t ancho chili powder
    1/2 t cinnamon, divided (1/4 t at beginning, rest near end)
    1-1/2 t cumin
    1 t coriander
    1/4 t allspice
    1 t paprika
    1 bay leaf
    1 t oregano
    3 t cocoa powder
    3 oz tomato paste
    2 14.5 oz cans regular diced tomatoes in juice
    2 T balsamic vinegar
    1/2 t red pepper flakes
    1 t brown sugar
    1 14.5 oz can petite diced tomatoes in juice
    2 15.5 oz cans red beans, drained and rinsed
    1 c water
    Garnishes (opt.): cilantro, red onion, cheddar, sour cream
