¼ cup heavy cream
salt
freshly ground black pepper
1⅓ cups day old bread, cubed (1/12-inch), crusts removed
3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
1 onion, cut into 1/2-inch strips
1 red bell pepper, cores, seeded, and cut into 1/4-inch slices
1 green bell pepper, cored, seeded, and cut into 1/4-inch slices
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
