Ingredients

  • For the dough:
  • 2 envelopes active dry yeast
  • cup sugar
  • cup warm milk, about 110? F
  • 1 stick unsalted butter, melted
  • 5 large egg yolks, room temperature
  • 4 cups all purpose flour, more or less as needed
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon grated orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • teaspoon dried nutmeg
  • 1 ceramic baby, dried bean or clean coin
  • 1 teaspoon oil (for oiling the bowl)
  • 2 tablespoons milk (to brush over the cake before baking)
  • For the bourbon pecan filling:
  • 1 (8-oz) package cream cheese, room temperature
  • cup confectioners sugar, sifted
  • cup light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons bourbon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • cup chopped pecans
  • For the icing:
  • 1 cups confectioners sugar, sifted
  • 1-2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 tablespoon orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon bourbon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • Purple, green and gold tinted sugar
