Cassoulet-style French Bean Stew

Ingredients

2 ounces sliced bacon, chopped
4 whole chicken legs, cut into 4 thighs and 4 drumsticks, skin removed
12 ounces smoked Andouille chicken sausage, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
2 medium onions, chopped
2 medium garlic cloves, finely chopped
1 tablespoon tomato paste
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1 1/2 cups dry white wine
1 1/2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
1 (28-ounce) can no-salt-added diced tomatoes
1 large sprig fresh thyme
1 bay leaf
3 (15-ounce) cans no-salt-added white beans, such as Great Northern, drained
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
2 cups coarse fresh whole-wheat breadcrumbs
