  • 6 tablespoons  butter or margarine
  • 1/3 cup  packed dark-brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup  dark corn syrup
  • 2 teaspoons  water
  • 8   glace cherries
  • 1 cup  all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon  baking powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon  salt
  •   2 eggs
  • 2/3 cup  granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup  milk
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons  vanilla
