  • 1 large  English (seedless) cucumber, at least 18 inches long
  • 2 tablespoons  finely chopped onion
  • 1 tablespoon  snipped fresh chives, for garnish
  • 3/4 teaspoon  poppy seeds or black mustard seeds, for garnish
