Gruyere-walnut Pesto With Crudites

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup  walnuts or almonds
  • 2 tablespoons  pine nuts (pignolis)
  • 2 to 4 cloves  garlic, minced
  • 2 cups  firmly packed fresh basil leaves
  • 1/2 cup  firmly packed flat-leaf parsley leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon  kosher or sea salt or 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon  freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/3 cup  olive oil
  • 1/2 cup  shredded Gruyere or Swiss cheese (4 ounces)
  • 2 tablespoons  orange juice
  •   Assorted crudites, such as jicama, fennel, carrot or celery sticks; snap peas; green onions; mushroo
  •   Breadsticks or assorted crackers

Description
