Brandy-glazed Carrot Cakes

  • 2 cups  sifted powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon  brandy, orange liqueur, or vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon  water
  •   Chopped toasted pecans or hazelnuts (optional)
