Ingredients
- 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 4 tbs butter
- 2 tbs flour
- French bread, sliced into small pieces
- 1 12oz bottle of good brown ale
- 3 cups beef stock
- 1 large carrot, shredded
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tbs honey
- 1/4 cup sherry
- worcestershire sauce, to taste (I use a couple splashes)
- salt and black pepper, to taste
- hot sauce of your choice, to taste
- 1/4 cup heavy cream, if needed/desired.
Description
You Could Ladle This Into Individual Crocks, Top With Cheese And Broil Like You Would With French Onion Soup, But I Prefer To Melt Some Cheese On Small Pieces Of Toasted Bread, Sort Of Like Croutons.
