- 2 tablespoons thinly sliced fresh basil leaves
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh oregano leaves
- 2 cups fresh ricotta cheese
- 1 large egg
- 2 cups freshly grated Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, plus more for garnish
- 2 cups grated fresh mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 pounds assorted potatoes, such as Idaho, red, and sweet, peeled and thinly sliced
