- 1/2 to 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 4 1/2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 to 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- Pastry for a double-crust 9-inch pie
- 1 1/3 cups apple juice
- 1 cinnamon stick (3 in.)
- 1 strip orange peel (1/2 by 4 in., orange part only)
- 3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- Vanilla ice cream (optional)
