Barbecued Turkey Thighs


  • 1/2 cup  ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons  sugar or sugar substitute* equivalent to 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon  quick-cooking tapioca
  • 1 tablespoon  cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon  Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon  ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon  crushed red pepper
  • 2 to 2 1/2 pounds  turkey thighs (about 2 thighs) or meaty chicken pieces (breast halves, thighs, and/or drumsticks), skinned
  • 2 to 3 cups  hot cooked brown rice or whole wheat pasta (optional)
  •   Fresh cilantro leaves (optional)
