  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil, plus extra for deep-frying

  • 3 onions, sliced

  • 1 garlic clove, crushed

  • 1 red chili, chopped

  • 200g/7oz cooked haggis

  • 250-300g/9 oz-10½oz gram flour

For the dip
  • 300ml/10fl oz orange juice

  • 100ml/3½fl oz white wine vinegar

  • 300g/10oz caster sugar

  • 100ml/3½fl oz whisky
