Aunty Elizabeth's Soda Bread


  • 300g wholemeal flour, I use Hovis
  • 340g porridge, I use Scotts
  • 150 self raising flour
  • 1 teaspoon bread soda (Bicarbonate of soda)
  • 1 free range, large egg
  • 1 pint of semi skimmed milk - you can use buttermilk, but it must be diluted to a pint with ordinary milk. In the olden days, buttermilk was just the whey left from butter making.
