Chicken And Waffles With Cayenne-cinnamon Syrup Recipe

Ingredients

  • FOR THE CHICKEN:
  • 3 c. buttermilk
  • 1 T. hot sauce plus extra to taste
  • 3 T. salt, divided
  • 1 t. dried crushed sage
  • 2 t. cayenne powder, divided
  • 1 t. black pepper, divided
  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into thick strips
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 t. baking powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 c. vegetable oil for frying
  • BELGIUM WAFFLE RECIPE:
  • 1 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 T. baking powder
  • 1 t. salt
  • 1 T. sugar
  • 2 lrg eggs
  • 1 1/2 whole milk
  • 6 T. unsalted butter, melted
  • FOR THE SYRUP:
  • 2 c. maple syrup
  • 1 1/2 T. dried ground cinnamon
  • 3 1/2 T. roasted chile oil

I Used Gale Gand's Recipe For Belgium Waffles. The Recipe Idea Intrigued My After Watching Food Network So I Thought I Would Try Creating The Dish. We Loved It!
