Pesto Margherita Pizza Recipe

Ingredients

  • for the dough
  • 1 package active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon honey (or sugar)
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 Tbsp sea salt
  • extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 2 cups bread flour
  • for the pesto
  • about 1 cup chopped fresh basil
  • 1 cup shredded or shaved parmesan
  • 1/2 cup pine nuts
  • 3-4 cloves garlic, coarsely chopped
  • salt & black pepper, to taste
  • about 1/2 cup olive oil
  • toppings
  • 1 large handful sweet grape tomatoes, halved long-ways
  • about 12 1/2 inch thick slices fresh mozzarella
  • shredded or shaved parmesan (as much as you want!)
