Swedish Meatballs With Paprika Gravy Recipe

Ingredients

  • For the meatballs:
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 pound uncooked sausage
  • 3/4 cup bread crumbs, cracker crumbs, or oatbran
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk or half & half
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 T worcestershire sauce (to your taste)
  • salt, pepper (to your taste)
  • 4 cups water or stock
  • For the gravy:
  • 3 T butter
  • 1 T sweet Hungarian paprika
  • 1 tsp. hot paprika
  • 1/2 cup onion, diced very finely
  • 3 cups total of beef stock, chicken stock, or a combination
  • 2 cups sour cream
  • 1/2 cup whole wheat flour or 1/4 c corn starch
