Ingredients

  • GROCERIES:
  • MEATS:
  • 6 pork chops
  • 1 flank steak (1-1/2 lbs.)
  • 1 beef chuck pot roast (3-5 lbs.)
  • 1 whole chicken (4-5 lbs.)
  • 3 fully cooked smoked sausages (such as white bratwurst or chicken-apple)
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 lb. chicken breast cutlets
  • vegetables/fruit/HERBS:
  • 1 head broccoli
  • 1 can sweet corn
  • 3/4 lb. potatoes
  • 1 bag your favorite thick-cut steak fries
  • 3 cups shredded green cabbage (about 3/4 lb.)
  • 1/2 small white onion
  • 2-1/2 lb. onions (yes, pounds!!)
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 3 Tbs. finely chopped pickled jalapeno chiles
  • 1-1/2 tsp. habanero chile
  • 8 green leaf lettuce leaves
  • 1-1/2 lbs. baby carrots (you have to shred some carrots, but make it easy on yourself and just get babies, you need carrots for a total of 3 recipes this week)
  • 3 jarred, roasted bell peppers
  • 1 red bell pepper
  • 2 lbs. crookneck yellow squash
  • 1 cup pineapple
  • 1/2 cup (plus a few Tbs.) pineapple juice
  • 1 peach
  • 1 lemon
  • 20 (plus a big handful) fresh basil leaves (fresh! fresh! fresh!)
  • 2 tsp. kosher salt
  • salt (plenty!)
  • pepper (plenty, fresh ground if possible!)
  • 1/2 tsp. celery seeds
  • 1/8 tsp. + 1/4 tsp. cayenne, divided
  • 1 Tbs. paprika
  • 1-1/2 tsp. hot mustard powder
  • 1 tsp. granulated garlic
  • 1 tsp. granulated onion
  • 1-1/2 Tbs. ground cumin
  • 1/4 tsp. ground cloves
  • 1/2 tsp. carraway seeds
  • DAIRY:
  • 1 cup plain whole milk yogurt
  • 1/2 lb. fresh mozzarella
  • 2-1/2 cups buttermilk
  • 4 oz. Gruyère or Emmenthal cheese
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 large egg
  • breadS/pasta/RICE:
  • 4 pitas
  • 12 kaiser rolls (you need hamburger buns or potato rolls for 1 recipe and kaiser rolls for another, make it easy on yourself and just get 12 kaiser rolls, if you don't want to spend that much money, just get 4 kaisers and the rest regular hamburger buns)
  • 4 large slices rye or pumpernickel bread
  • STAPLES/PANTRY ITEMS/SPECIALTY ITEMS:
  • 1 Tbs. dark soy sauce
  • 1/2 Tbs. worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup EVOO (extra-virgin olive oil)
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 4 Tbs. vegetable or canola oil
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 2 cups cornmeal
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 1/2 Tbs. red wine vinegar
  • 4 Tbs. white wine vinegar (there is 1 recipe that gives you a choice of white wine or cider vinegar, if you choose cider, you only need 1 Tbs. white)
  • 4-1/2 Tbs. cider vinegar (if you use white wine vinegar in the 1 recipe {SEE ABOVE}, you only need 1-1/2 Tbs. cider)
  • 4-1/2 Tbs. Dijon mustard
  • 1-1/2 cups ketchup
  • 1 tsp. Tabasco sauce
  • 4 cups beef stock
  • 1 Tbs. granulated sugar
  • 1 Tbs. (packed) dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup pecans
  • 1 bag your favorite chips
  • 4 wooden skewers, soaked in water
  • boiling water or steamer
  • hickory chips
