Fig Pie Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 Stick of butter,unsalted(no sub.please,just real butter)
  • 1/4 Cup brown sugar,firmly packed
  • 6 Tablespoons corn syrup
  • 2 Cups figs,dried,and quartered
  • 2 Cups walnuts,chopped coarsely
  • 1/4 Cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 Crumb Crust
  • For Creamy Sauce:
  • 1/2 Cup brown sugar,firmly packed
  • 2 Tablespoons corn syrup
  • 2 -1/2 Tablespoons instant espresso powder
  • 1-1/2 Tablespoons butter,unsalted
  • 3 oz unsweetened chocolate,chopped
  • 1/2 Cup heavy cream
  • 1-1/2 Tablespoons coffee liqueur
  • Combine the brown sugar,corn syrup,espresso powder,and butter in pan,bring mixture to boil,and continue to boil(watching,stirring) for about 1 to 1/2 minutes.Remove the pan from heat and stir in the chocolate,and heavy cream,stir until chocolate melts and sauce is smooth.Pour sauce through a fine mesh strainer into container. Stir in coffee liqueur,cool,cover,refrigerate.Reheat sauce before serving with slices of pie.
