Meatball And Marinara Subs Recipe

Ingredients

  • Easy Marinara
  • -------------------------
  • 1 14oz can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 14 oz can Italian style diced tomato
  • 1 14oz can tomato sauce
  • about 2 oz tomato paste(if needed to thicken sauce to desired consistency)
  • 1 small or 1/2 a large onion, diced
  • 4-5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh Italian herbs, finely chopped(parsley, basil, oregano, etc)
  • 1/2t baking soda
  • sea or kosher salt and fresh ground black pepper, to taste
  • 2T butter or olive oil
  • meatballs
  • -----------------
  • 1lb ground Italian sausage-mild or hot
  • 1lb ground meat(beef, turkey, venison, or pork)
  • 2 eggs, depending on size
  • 1 cup Italian bread crumbs
  • 1T worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 fresh Italian herbs, as above
  • 1/2 cup shredded parmesan cheese
  • dash of crushed red pepper flakes(optional)
  • 1T dry minced onion
  • 1t garlic powder
  • 8 sub or hoagie style rolls
  • 8 slices provolone cheese
  • 3T melted butter
  • fresh grated parmesan cheese, if desired

Description

My Version Of A Classic. Rather Than Using My Usual Marinara And Meatballs, I Switch Things Up And Put Most Of The Flavor In The Meat, And Keep The Sauce More Simple. We LOVE How This Comes Together.
