Ingredients

BREAD CRUMB COATING

  1. 3slices of soft white sandwich bread, crusts removed and bread cut into 1-inch pieces
  2. 2tablespoons chopped parsley
  3. 3/4teaspoon cayenne pepper
  4. 1teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  5. 1teaspoon baking powder

CRAB CAKES

  1. 2 1/2tablespoons unsalted butter
  2. 1/4cup finely diced red bell pepper
  3. 1/4cup finely diced shallots
  4. 2eggs, lightly beaten
  5. 2tablespoons chopped parsley leaves
  6. 2tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  7. 1tablespoon Old Bay seasoning
  8. 1tablespoon Dijon mustard
  9. 1teaspoon cayenne pepper
  10. 1teaspoon baking powder
  11. 1/4teaspoon salt
  12. 2pounds lump crabmeat, drained and picked over
  13. 3slices of soft white sandwich bread—crusts removed and bread cut into 1/4-inch cubes
  14. 3tablespoons olive oil
