Indian-Style Red Velvet Okra and Tomatillos

Ingredients

  1. 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  2. 1/2 cup coarsely chopped onion
  3. 2 teaspoons ground turmeric
  4. 3/4 pound Red Velvet okra, sliced crosswise 1/2 inch thick
  5. 1 pound tomatillos--husked, washed and quartered
  6. 2 large plum tomatoes, chopped
  7. 1 jalapeo, seeded and minced
  8. 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
  9. 1/4 cup water
  10. Salt
  11. 1/4 cup coarsely chopped cilantro
