Gingered Berry Crumble

Ingredients

  1. 1 cup unbleached all-purpose flour
  2. 1/3 cup plus 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  3. 1 cup rolled oats
  4. 1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
  5. 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  6. 1/4 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
  7. Pinch of salt
  8. 1 stick (4 ounces) cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  9. 2 pints fresh blackberries or other berries
  10. 2 peaches or nectarines, or 4 apricots, or 2 pears or apples, thinly sliced
  11. 1/4 cup finely diced candied ginger
  12. 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  13. Blackberry Gelato or vanilla ice cream, for serving
