Cranberry-Almond Cake with Raspberry Coulis

Ingredients

  1. 1/2 cup sliced almonds (about 2 ounces)
  2. 2 cups confectioners' sugar, plus 1 tablespoon, for dusting
  3. 1 cup all-purpose flour
  4. 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  5. 9 large egg whites
  6. 2 sticks ( 1/2 pound) unsalted butter, melted and cooled
  7. 2 tablespoons Chambord or framboise
  8. 1 teaspoon almond extract
  9. 1 teaspoon finely grated lemon zest
  10. 1 1/2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
  11. 1 pint fresh raspberries
  12. 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  13. 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice or water
  14. Unsweetened whipped cream, for serving
