    • 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar, divided
    • 6 large egg yolks
    • 3/8 teaspoon pure almond extract
    • 1 cup heavy cream

    For peach topping
    • 1 pound firm-ripe peaches
    • 1 (500-mg) vitaminutes C tablet, crushed to a powder
    • 1/4 cup sugar, or to taste
