- 1 ripe tomato
- 3 tomatillos, husked and rinsed
- 1 small onion, peeled and halved
- 2 garlic cloves, peeled
- 2 dried Guajillo or New Mexico red chiles
- 2 red bell peppers, chopped
- 1 teaspoon [5 mL] achiote
- 1 teaspoon [5 mL] sugar
- Salt to taste
- ½ cup [120 mL] unseasoned breadcrumbs, toasted warm tortillas
