Ingredients

  • 4 medium potatoes (about 2 pounds), peeled and cut into quarters
  • 4 tablespoons (½ stick) butter
  • 6 ounces Irish or English bacon, cut into small pieces
  • 1 medium head green cabbage (about 2 pounds), discolored leaves discarded, cored, and shredded
  • ½ cup chicken broth
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
