Molasses Cookies

Ingredients

  • Molasses Cookies
  • 3/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 t baking powder
  • 1/2 t baking soda
  • 1/4 t salt
  • 1 t ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 t ground cloves
  • 1/1 t ground ginger
  • In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in molasses and egg. Combine dry ingredients; gradually add to creamed mixture. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour or until firm.
  • Roll into 1-inch balls. Place 2 in. apart on greased baking sheets. Press flat with a glass dipped in sugar. Bake at 375 for 8-10 mins, or until lightly browned. Remove to wire racks to cool. Sprinkle with more sugar if desired:)
