All-american Classic Meat Loaf

Ingredients

  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 2/3 cup beef broth or dry red wine
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 slices sourdough bread, cubed (about 2 cups)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan or Romano cheese
  • 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 1 pound ground beef sirloin
  • 1 pound ground beef chuck
  • 1 medium green sweet pepper, chopped
  • 1/2 of a medium onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cider vinegar
  • Chopped fresh parsley, sliced green onions, and black pepper (optional)
