Fruit & Nut Bran Muffins ~ Suzy's

Ingredients

     1/2-cup bran
     1/2-cup boiling water
     1/2-cup applesauce (this can be replaced with apple butter, pureed banana, pumpkin, prune or other fruit of your choice)
     1-cup lowfat buttermilk
     1-egg, beaten
     1-teaspoon vanilla
     1/2-cup splenda measurable
     1/4-cup sugar free pancake syrup
     1-cup bran
     1-1/4 cups whole wheat flour
     1-1/2 teaspoons baking soda
     1-teaspoon baking powder
     1-teaspoon salt
     1/4-cup chopped walnuts or pecans or even coconut
     1/2-cup dried mixed fruits of your choice (raisins, bananas, apples, pineapples, etc...I use fruit that I dehydrate in my dehydrator)
     1/4-cup grape nuts cereal
