    1 lb Great Northern beans, soaked overnight in cold water
    8 cups low-sodium chicken broth
    8 ounces fresh kale, stems removed & leaves torn into small pieces
    2 cups chopped onion
    2 cups diced carrots
    1 can (14 1/2 oz) diced tomatoes, undrained
    2 tablespoons fresh or 1 tbsp dried sage leaves
    1 1/2 tablespoons Minced garlic
    1 large bay leaf
    1 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
    2 teaspoons salt
    1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
    1 lb Andouille sausage

    Toppings: Extra virgin olive oil, freshly grated Parmesan cheese
