    2 1/2 pounds boneless bottom round roast
    1/4 t. black pepper
    2 medium onions- thinly sliced
    3 cloves garlic-minced
    1 can beef broth (2 cups)
    1 cup water
    1 can tomato paste (6 oz)
    1/2 t. dried thyme
    1/2 t. dried basil
    1 can muschrooms (7 oz)
    1 t. dried parsley
