Syrup cup (175 mL) granulated sugar 1 cups (300 mL) water, divided cup (175 mL) lightly packed brown sugar 1 tbsp (15 mL) salted butter or unsalted with a generous pinch of salt 2 tsp (10 mL) freshly squeezed lemon juice tsp (2 mL) pure vanilla Waffles 1 cup (250 mL) all-purpose flour cup (175 mL) whole-wheat flour 2 tbsp (25 mL) poppy seeds 1 tsp (7 mL) baking powder tsp (1 mL) baking soda tsp (1 mL) salt 1 medium very ripe banana 1 cups (375 mL) milk 3 egg whites cup (50 mL) butter, melted 3 to 4 medium ripe-but-firm bananas 2 cups (500 mL) fresh raspberries, blueberries or strawberries (optional)
